Bill, you do amazing work and I am glad you told our men and women in uniform that we really do appreciate the sacrifice they and their families make to keep up free.

Bill, thank you a thousand times for that speech! I'm a veteran of the Air Force from the 80's, and it made me realize that, even though I served during what was technically peacetime, I can still say I paid for our freedom. Thank you so much.

As a former enlisted man in the US Army (88-96), your genuine love and affection for this country, and the people who serve it, is inspiring!

Thank you, Bill!

As a former solider who was stationed in Gtmo, I would like to say thank you for being willing to visit with the troops down there. I know how much it meant to me when I was stationed there and people would visit with us. It made us feel like we had not been forgotten. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you!!!

Bill, as one of the privileged few who had the opportunity to enjoy your first tentative forays into publicly expressing your heartfelt love for this country, may I just say that you have come so very far... that Pasadena coffehouse evening was something I will never forget, and your message was well delivered and received even then. But in the intervening years you have most certainly become comfortable with yourself as well as your message and it really shows in this one. Keep it up, and I will as always look forward to hearing you continue to express MY thoughts!

Some years ago I used to get these vitriolic anti-bush/anti-military emails from a friend-of-a-friend who was just like you descibed. Instead of arguing with him, I just told him that I had served in the military to protect his right to say those things and that he was welcome. He absolutely refused to accept that he owed his freedoms to the military or anyone else. I just kept responding witht he same six word, "You are welcome none the less".

It must have hit a nerve becuase the emails kept getting even more spiteful and eventually turned into diatribes against the services and even personal attacks on me. I never had so much fun tormenting someone with the truth. And the truth is, he is still welcome.

Thank you Bill and, although I would never have said this sitting in a foxhole in the rain, the honor was to serve.
