Yes, it's true. The first votes of the 2016 Presidential Primary are fast approaching. The Iowa caucuses kick off on Monday, February 1st, and the New Hampshire primaries the following week on the 9th. We're getting down to the wire, but the race is far from settled. Let's go ahead and take a look at how things stand in Iowa. The latest, Des Moines Register Bloomberg Politics Poll shows Hillary Clinton barely ahead in a very tight race, 42%, to Bernie Sanders, 40%, Martin O'Malley is at 4% and might have a chance if a meteor takes out both the other candidates. On the Republican side, Ted Cruz is in the lead with 25%, Donald Trump is a close second with 22%, Marco Rubio is a distant third with 12%, Ben Carson is in fourth place with 11%. Everyone else lags far behind. Rand Paul gets 5%, Jeb Bush gets 4%, Chris Christie gets 3%, Mike Huckabee gets 3%, John Kasich gets 2%, Carly Fiorina gets 2%, and poor Rick Santorum is sitting on 1%. The Gravis Poll paints a much different picture. It shows Hillary way ahead, getting 57% to Sanders' 36%, O'Malley's all the way up to 7%, swimming pools, movie stars. Gravis also shows a very different race on the GOP side with Trump in the lead at 34%, Cruz in second at 28%, Ben Carson at 9%, Rubio and Christie tied for fourth place with 5% each, Bush and Kasich tied for fifth with 4%. How's that for a little flip-ola there? Paul at 3%, Fiorina at 1%, and Santorum with zip-ola. The well-respected Quinnipiac University Poll has a third take on the race in Iowa. Finding Sanders beating Clinton 49% to 44%, well, O'Malley gets 4%. Among Republicans they show Trump edging Cruz 31% to 29%, Rubio coming in third with 15%, Carson at 7%, Christie at 4%, Bush and Huckabee at 3%, Paul and Kasich at 2%, and Fiorina and Santorum bring up the rear at 1% each. We'll find out who got it right on the 1st. Moving onto New Hampshire. The latest Monmouth University Poll shows Sanders 14 points ahead in the granite state, beating Clinton 53% to 39% with O'Malley at 5%.

Monmouth shows Trump crushing the rest of the field with 32%, Ted Cruz and John Kasich in his best showing anywhere, by the way, are tied for second place with 14% each. Rubio gets 12%, Christie gets 8%, Fiorina gets 5%, Bush and Paul each get 4%, Carson has fallen into a black hole with 3%, Huckabee gets 1%, and Santorum gets zip. Finally, a just-released poll in the Democratic race from CNN and a local TV station, WMUR shows Sanders brutally trouncing Hillary, 60% to 33% with O'Malley in an irrelevant 1%. If I were Bill Clinton, I'd say "Put some ice on that." Hillary Clinton is fast to say if she loses Iowa, if she loses New Hampshire, don't worry about it. I've got a firewall, it's called South Carolina and Nevada. I'm gonna win those two states because minority voters make up a huge percent of the Democratic electorate and Hillary thinks she has them in the bag. Time will tell.
